Message from Chairperson of Standign
- Shuichi Yamamoto
- Chairperson of Standing Committee of the National University
Hospital Council of Japan
- Director of Chiba University Hospital
In recent years, the environment surrounding the study of medicine and health care services in Japan has greatly changed to include a variety of important issues, such as expectations for further contributions to community health care services as the core medical institution of the community, efforts for an aging population, ensuring medical safety, improvements in compliance related to clinical research, efforts for postgraduate clinical training for doctors and dentists, and the promotion of global medical collaboration. In addition, we are now required to demonstrate greater independence and autonomy in moving from management improvement to management strategies as applied to sound hospital management.
As such, the National University Hospital Council of Japan, with all its members united, is making the best possible effort to research and develop advanced medical technology, nurture medical practitioners for the future, actively participate in medical challenges within the community and society, and strengthen the global competitiveness of medicine while at the same time providing patient-centered, high-quality health care services, which are the missions of university hospitals.
We will have active discussions with the persons in charge of council meetings and address the various challenges accordingly in order to contribute to the development of medicine and health care services in Japan as in the past. We will inform you of the various innovations and improvements on which this council is working and ensure that you understand the different issues related to university hospitals by explaining the council’s activities to society through this website. For that, we hope that many people, including those involved in the National University Hospital Council of Japan, will visit this website. Thank you for your understanding and support.
